At French Open final last Sunday, Rafael Nadal demonstrated his unchallengeable superiority on the clay court. He relentlessly demolished the world no 1 Novak Djokovic in 3 straight sets 6-0, 6-2, 7-5. He astonished the tennis world with his unbending determination, his laser sharp focus and his extraordinary talent. And once again, he defended his crowned title “The King of Clay Court ” for 13 straight years. Once again, he declared that he is the ruler of the clay court, every inch of it! It came with added significance in that it moves Nadal up to 20 Grand Slam singles titles, equal with Roger Federer
On the court, Nadal is like a lion, roaring over each one of his rivals. Off the court, he is so humble, so chill. He is not obsessed with breaking the record. He said: “In terms of the records, of course I care,’ he said, before reasoning: ‘You can’t be always unhappy because your neighbours have a bigger house than you or a bigger boat or have a better phone……My happiness will not be different if I win more than Roger Federer or not….. I just tried to work every day with the right determination, looking for my goals….”
Congratulations to you Nadal. You are is one of extraordinary athletes of our time.
