Life Is Less About What Happens And More About How We Respond To It

The year of 2020 is full of reality: the Covid-19 pandemic, the uncertain economic conditions in the world and U.S. election etc.. The future looks a little bit cloudy from our unfocused eyes.

How to be focused when we feel overwhelming stressed by the craziness in the world? How to be calm when we face chaos? These are questions we have to answer with our attitude and action daily.

From time to time, I tell myself that I shouldn’t spend too much time worrying about things that I can’t control. What happens in the world now is out my control, but I can control how I respond to it. I made decision that I don’t want to be swamped by the bad news day in and day out. Why should I pay attention to the craziness while I have a choose to be calm? There are so many more important and fun things to do in my life. Sometimes we have to remember ignorance is a blessing.

From time to time,  I tell myself that I should focus on what matters to me and what makes happy. I enjoy reading. So I spend most of my time reading. It enriches me. It makes me feel life have more horizons. I enjoy listening to music. It makes me feel alive. It gives me emotions. I enjoy healthy living. It energies me. It keeps me feeling young at heart.

The famous philosopher Marcus Aurelius said: “When you rise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive, to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.” He also said:”Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking.” Yes. life is less about what happens and more about how we respond to it.
